Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
Last Updated: August 7, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to matchmakeco ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and disclose your information across the matchmakeco platform, including our website, APIs, and AstroPrime, our AI astrologer (formerly called AstroBot).
2. Information We Collect
To provide our services, we collect the following types of information:
- Account Information: When you sign up via Google OAuth, we receive your name and email address as provided by Google. We do not collect or store passwords.
- Birth Details: To generate compatibility reports or personal horoscopes, you provide names, dates of birth, times of birth, and geographic location for the individuals being analysed. This data is the core of our service.
- Usage Data: We collect first-party records of how our platform is used, such as the pages you visit, the features you use, and timestamps. These records are linked to a randomly generated identifier stored in your browser and, when you are signed in, to your account. They contain page and feature information only, not the content of your conversations or reports. We use them to operate and secure the service and to improve its features.
- Guest Usage: You can try a limited number of reports and AstroPrime questions without creating an account. To apply those free-tier limits per device, we issue a guest token (stored in your browser and as a cookie) and derive a device identifier from your browser's characteristics. This identity exists only to enforce the free tier and to link your guest activity to your account if you later sign in on the same device.
- Booking Information: If you book a session with an astrologer or practitioner on our marketplace, we process your name, email address, the session slot you choose, and your payment method so the booking can be scheduled and paid.
- Preferences: Choices you make, such as your preferred astrology system (Vedic or Western) and your answers in the welcome dialog (for example, whether you're exploring for yourself or as a couple), are stored in your browser and recorded as usage events so the product can open the right experience.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the service: Birth details are used to generate Vedic and Western astrology reports and to power AstroPrime responses. Your email is used to manage your account and history.
- AstroPrime chat: AstroPrime receives your report data for each question you ask. Conversations are held in memory on our servers only while your chat session is open and are not stored on our servers afterwards. Your recent conversations are kept on your own device (browser storage) so a chat can survive a refresh, and expire automatically within about a day.
- Marketplace bookings: Booking information is used to schedule your session, send you a calendar invitation with the video-meeting link, process the payment, and handle cancellations and refunds under the policy shown at booking.
- Account management: We use your account information to create and maintain your profile and match history, and to show you in-app notifications about your account and the service.
- Service operation and improvement: The usage records described in Section 2 help us operate and secure the service, detect abuse, and understand which features to improve.
- Analytics and advertising: With your consent (see Section 5), we use Google Analytics and Google Ads to measure how the site is used in aggregate and how our advertising performs.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only with the following third-party service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate the service:
- Astrology calculation engine: Birth details you provide are sent to our internal horoscope calculation service to generate chart results.
- AI providers: When you use AstroPrime or a report summary is generated, your report data is sent to our AI providers to generate the response. This data is not used to train their models and is not retained by them after the request is processed.
- Authentication: We use Google OAuth 2.0 for account sign-in. We do not receive or store your Google password.
- Payment processing: If you purchase coins or pay for a booking, payment details are handled by Razorpay. We do not store card or banking information on our servers.
- Marketplace practitioners: When you book a session, the practitioner you choose receives the details needed to hold it: your name, your email address, and the scheduled time. Practitioners are independent providers, and their use of that information is subject to their own practices.
- Calendar and video meetings: Booking confirmations are delivered as Google Calendar invitations with a Google Meet link, which means your email address and the session time are processed by Google to create the invitation.
- Analytics and advertising (consent-based): Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and Google Ads receive usage signals from your browser if you consent to analytics or marketing cookies. We configure Google Consent Mode so these tools respect your choice; if you decline, they operate without cookies or are not loaded. See our Cookie Policy for details and controls.
We may also disclose your information if required by applicable law, court order, or government authority.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, operate the guest free tier, and, with your consent, run analytics and advertising tools. A consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time. Our Cookie Policy & Settings page lists what we store and lets you manage your preferences.
6. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and, where applicable, the GDPR) you have the following rights:
- Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure: You may request deletion of your personal data. You can delete individual report history entries directly from the My reports page.
- Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
- Grievance redressal: You may write to our Grievance Officer at support@matchmakeco.com; we acknowledge and address grievances within the timelines prescribed under the DPDP Act. If you are located in India, you may also raise a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India once it is established under the DPDP Act.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@matchmakeco.com.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and secure development practices consistent with the IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures) Rules, 2011.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account information and report history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete a report from your history, it is removed from your accessible records. You may contact us to request full account deletion.
Usage records (described in Section 2) are retained for a limited period, currently 180 days, and are then deleted automatically. If your account is deleted, the usage records linked to it are deleted at the same time. You may also request erasure of your usage records at any time by writing to support@matchmakeco.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have done so, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
